Release the voice, realise potential
The Djembe is a traditional drum used across much of Africa. According to the Bamana
people of Mali there is a saying "Anke dje, anke be" which translates literally to
"Everyone gather together." This defines the purpose of the drum as 'Dje' is the
word for 'gather' in Bamanakan and 'be' translates as 'everyone'. It can be played

Rhythms of Cuba
Rhythms such as Son, Rumba, Mambo, Nongo and more recently, Timba are the heartbeat of much of Cuban music and are wonderful for groups to play as they use multi layered rhythms. Each style consists of different patterns which, when played together form a composite that sounds simply stunning. The instruments used include conga, bongo, shaker, guiro, clave, woodblock, cowbell and timbale.
The styles mentioned above are full of history and are inseparable from dance. In playing and studying these forms of music we learn not only about ourselves, but about where we came from and often where we might be going. Also, it is almost inevitable that there will be a cross over with other subjects such as Mathematics, History, Geography, Physics and Sociology.
"Rhythm is the soul of life. The whole universe revolves in rhythm. Every thing and
every human action revolves in rhythm." -
